French Moulin.

The specification for this project was to convert a watermill and the attached barn into 5 self-contained apartments, and then for the watermill itself to be renovated into a small 5 bedroom hotel with reception area and communal kitchen.

This project involved extensive structural work as the barn itself was over 200 years old. With all the new improvements added to the watermill, we would have to tie the existing building into the new features at every stage, where walls were falling down, we would tie them into our new chamber floors with concrete shutters and steel re-bar.

After all structural works were completed we finally had the chance to add a new dimension to this beautiful property, the works would consist of metal railing all of the external walls, fitting new walls and new windows into the roof spaces to separate each space into a self-contained apartment, and then again more new walls to create a bathroom, bedroom, toilet, kitchen and finally a nice new living space.

After all of the work to get this wonderful building structurally safe and the first fix work had been carried, we finally had the chance to really enjoy the project, we were able to add a bit of modern flair, we tiled all the floors in the gites, plasterboarded them out and drylined the entire job, then we carried on with staircases, kitchens and the exterior terraces.
